The minister said that the ministry is “looking into” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, however noted that safety is a concern in all modern cars.

We have a collection of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and Chinese ones account for a tiny fraction.
However whether you’re driving a Chinese car or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our staff is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their vehicle, to avoid having discussions at a secret classification in any kind of vehicle, because of the growing risks of surveillance that exist in all automobile, to only have those secret talks in secure locations. This is a prudent and reasonable thing for anyone concerned about safety.

When it was put to him that it would be wise for the ministry to cease using all cars from China, the minister responded: That is precisely what we are looking into at the present time.”
